Aston Martin and JPMorgan Chase & Co. Provide Major Financial Support to Co-sponsor Inaugural Nasher Prize

Nasher Sculpture Center Architect Renzo Piano Commissioned by Nancy A. Nasher and David J. Haemisegger to Design Award Object

DALLAS, Texas (August 24, 2015) – Nasher Sculpture Center announces that several significant gifts have been made in support of the Nasher Prize, a new annual international award that will be presented to a living artist in recognition of a significant body of work. The Nasher Sculpture Center announces today as well that the Pritzker Prize-winning architect Renzo Piano has been commissioned to design the award object.

With the assistance of the Nasher Prize’s inaugural co-chairs Catherine Rose and Jennifer Eagle, the Nasher Prize has received major sponsorship support from the iconic luxury car company, Aston Martin and from the esteemed financial institution, JPMorgan Chase & Co. Both companies will serve as co-presenting sponsors of the inaugural Nasher Prize, providing substantial funding of $100,000 each for this important new prize and the attendant programming surrounding it.

“The Nasher Sculpture Center is hugely grateful to our co-chairs Catherine Rose and Jennifer Eagle for helping secure this generous and vital support from Aston Martin and JPMorgan Chase & Co. It is a particular honor to see institutions of stature and influence so generously support the vision of the Nasher Prize, and play a vital role in bringing that vision to fruition,” says Director Jeremy Strick.

To underscore the Nasher Prize’s relationship to the museum and its mission, Nancy A. Nasher and David J. Haemisegger have commissioned architect Renzo Piano, who designed the Nasher Sculpture Center, to design the award object to be given to each Nasher Prize laureate. Mr. Piano’s design for the prize object will be unveiled early next year and will serve as the emblem of the Nasher Prize in years to come.

“The commission of Renzo Piano’s talent from Nancy A. Nasher and David J. Haemisegger for the Nasher Prize laureate object is a remarkable gift,” continues Jeremy Strick. “An object designed by the mastermind of our beloved museum is a beautifully fitting gesture, and we express our continued and profound appreciation to Nancy and David for their commitment to the Nasher Sculpture Center.”
