Student XChange

Youth Summit

A recurring summit for high school and college students, Student XChange brings young adults from diverse North Texas schools to discuss themes connected to Nasher exhibitions and create art with practicing artists.

Student XChange: Kathryn Andrews

October 29, 2016

Students from throughout North Texas mined the exhibition Kathryn Andrews: Run for President for connections between power, politics and popular culture. Each delegation of students researched and presented perspectives on selected works from the exhibition and nominated their own fictional candidates for president before meeting and collaborating with artists on studio projects inspired by aspects of Kathryn Andrews's work.

Student XChange: Thomas Heatherwick

November 8, 2014

Inspired by the exhibition Provocations: The Architecture and Design of Heatherwick Studio, students were invited to apply the design methodology of Heatherwick Studio to projects in a North Texas setting.  Each participating school created a model for an architectural project based upon a scenario featuring a key question, or "provocation." After students presented their concepts, they worked with artists in small groups on projects related to industrial and urban design.

Student XChange: Nasher XChange

January 25, 2014

In celebration of our 10th anniversary in 2013, the Nasher Sculpture Center presented Nasher XChange, a dynamic public art exhibition consisting of 10 commissioned works by 10 renowned artists at 10 diverse sites throughout the city of Dallas.  This exhibition created an unprecedented opportunity to connect students from sites around the city with contemporary art, with the Nasher, and with each other.

Delegations of high school and college students from communities connected with Nasher XChange were selected to participate in the Student XChange summit in January 2014. During this day-long program, students learne about the Nasher, shared information about their community and the Nasher XChange project located there, and created art with guest artists.
