DALLAS, Texas (December 10, 2018) – The Nasher Sculpture Center announces Free First Saturdays, a program offering free admission and activities on the first Saturday of every month. Previously known as Target First Saturdays, the day has provided free admission and community engagement since 2007, offering access to the museum at no cost to thousands of visitors.
Beginning on January 5, 2019, the reimagined programming series now enters its twelfth year with a new format, supported by Neiman Marcus and Bank of America. Offering a rotating line-up of activities and entertainment each month—such as DJ sets and live music, food vendors, artist-led projects, guided sketching sessions in the galleries, and informal discussions of exhibitions and works on view—the series will continue to provide free access to the museum, enriching the creative community of Dallas. All activities at Free First Saturdays are scalable to every age group, from children to adults.
“We are excited to offer free admission and creative learning opportunities in a fresh new format,” says Curator of Education Anna Smith. “Free First Saturdays will allow visitors of all ages and interests to build their own experience at the Nasher, and each month will offer new and different ways to engage with and enjoy art.”
