Open to the public. FREE with advance registration. This event will take place at the Montgomery Arts Theater at Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts. 

Self-paid parking is available at One Arts Plaza and the Winspear Opera House for $5.  Doors to the Montgomery Arts Theater will open at 1:45 pm. Seating is general admission.

About Nasher Prize

The Nasher Sculpture Center proudly presents the Nasher Prize, an annual international award that will be presented to a living artist whose work has had an extraordinary impact on the understanding of sculpture.

An international jury of renowned museum directors, curators, artists and art historians who have an expertise in the field, and varying perspectives on the subject, convened at Tate Britain in London on July 3, 2015 and selected the first-ever Nasher Prize laureate. The inaugural winner of Nasher Prize was announced on September 30, 2015, and will receive the award, which includes a $100,000 prize and an award object designed by Nasher Sculpture Center architect, Renzo Piano, commissioned by Nancy A. Nasher and David J. Haemisegger, on April 2, 2016 in Dallas, Texas.

The Nasher Sculpture Center is one of a few institutions worldwide dedicated exclusively to the exhibition and study of modern and contemporary sculpture. As such, the prize is an apt extension of the museum’s mission and its commitment to advancing developments in the field. By recognizing those artists who have influenced our understanding of sculpture and its possibilities, the Nasher Sculpture Center will further its role as a leading institution in enhancing and promoting this vital art form.
