Martin Rev (New York City): Rare is the living musician who can claim to have influenced Bruce Springsteen, Lou Reed, dance music, and punk bands; and yet Martin Rev has done exactly that. A force in New York’s rich scene since the early 1970s, Martin Rev’s synthesizer pop and composition technique can be found in a disparate array of sounds and scenes.
In Mirrors (Vancouver/Los Angeles): A collaboration between Canadian poet Jesse Taylor and celebrated American record producer, Johnny Jewel, In Mirrors is a new recording project that incorporates a variety of contributors spanning the globe. The soundtrack-like quality of the music is no surprise, given producer Jewel’s involvement in soundtracks such as Drive and the most recent season of Twin Peaks.
Twisted Wires (Houston, TX): Founding member Richard Durham has led this mysterious project for the better part of a decade, and has recorded exclusively for the Italians Do It Better label. Twisted Wires' recent compilation, Half Lives, compiled the totality of the group's discography thus far for the popular imprint.
Film: Leaning into the Wind: Andy Goldsworthy, 2017 (PG): Leaning into the Wind follows artist Andy Goldsworthy on his exploration of the world and himself through ephemeral and permanent workings on the landscape, cities, and with his own body."
